Coach Jesse Lopez enters his fifth season as Director of the Arizona Elite Sports Group and his 22nd year in coaching.

Born and raised in Norwalk, California, Coach Lopez graduated from Norwalk High School before attending Arizona State University and later transferring to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Following his time at West Point, he served on active duty with the prestigious 75th Ranger Regiment of the United States Army and completed combat tours overseas.

After completing his military service, Coach Lopez returned to Arizona and pursued a professional football career. He trained and competed in the Spanish Football League, beginning a journey that allowed him to play professionally in several leagues throughout Europe.

Coach Lopez began his coaching career in football under the guidance of his mentor, former NFL coach George Martinez. He eventually returned to his first love—baseball—and has since served as an assistant coach, position coach, player-development coach, manager, and director at nearly every level of the game.

His coaching experience includes club baseball, high school, junior college, university, Minor League Baseball, and Major League Baseball, as well as assignments in Mexico’s Liga Mexicana de Béisbol and Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico.

Coach Lopez’s approach extends far beyond athletic performance. While he is committed to helping players succeed on the field and in the classroom, his greatest priority is developing disciplined, responsible young men who positively represent their families, teams, and communities.

Coach Lopez completed his undergraduate studies at the United States Military Academy and earned a master’s degree in education from Arizona State University. He currently resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

His son, Manuel Lopez, is an AZ Select and US Elite Arizona alumnus who has played four years of professional baseball.
